What jobs are available for Sustainability professionals in the Irish property and real estate sector?

by | Aug 16, 2023 | Uncategorized

The sustainability field is rapidly growing in the Irish property and real estate sector. As sustainability becomes increasingly important, we can expect to see more job opportunities in this field in the future. The prevailing trend suggests that property professionals who upskill or gain accreditation in sustainability are working in dual roles that fit with their organisation’s sustainability policies. This is particularly relevant to Property and Facility Management professionals. Here are some of the roles that are available in sustainability in the Irish property and real estate sectors:

Sustainability Manager: A Sustainability Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies for a property or real estate company. This includes managing sustainability projects, tracking and reporting on sustainability metrics, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Energy Manager: An Energy Manager is responsible for managing energy usage and efficiency in a property or real estate company. This includes identifying opportunities for energy savings, managing energy performance data, and implementing energy efficiency projects.

Environmental Consultant: An Environmental Consultant provides advice and guidance to property and real estate companies on environmental issues, such as sustainability, pollution, and waste management. They may also be responsible for conducting environmental assessments and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Sustainable Building Consultant: A Sustainable Building Consultant provides advice and guidance on sustainable building design and construction. This includes advising on green building certifications, sustainable building materials, and energy-efficient building systems.

Green Building Certifier: A Green Building Certifier assesses and certifies buildings for green building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, or Home Performance Index. They may work for a certification body or are employed by a property or real estate company.

Renewable Energy Specialist: A Renewable Energy Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing renewable energy projects in a property or real estate company. This includes identifying opportunities for renewable energy generation, managing renewable energy systems, and ensuring compliance with renewable energy regulations.

These are just a few examples of the types of roles available in sustainability in the Irish property and real estate industries. As sustainability becomes increasingly important, we can expect to see more property professionals upskill in the space and leverage their property experience to create dual roles or stand alone sustainability positions.
